How to choose a pet sitter

Updated:

A suitable sitter should give you enough detail on location, timing, care and contact so you can compare options before handing over your cat or dog.

Steps to start

  1. Decide the setup. Do you need visits at home, boarding, or daytime drop-in? Write down the dates you will be away and your pet’s needs before you contact anyone.
  2. Review the listing. Check the description, area and any photos. Reviews tied to verified visits are a reference, not a guarantee.
  3. Ask before handover. Discuss food type and portions, medicines, where the animal usually hides, the carrier location and your regular clinic. Agree how they will send photo or message updates.
  4. Agree directly. Call or message on Zalo about fees, drop-off and pickup times, and what happens if plans change. Cun Miu does not book or take payment in the app.
  5. Check after the first visit. Look at how your pet is and talk to the sitter if anything is unclear; keep comparing if you are not comfortable.

Checklist

  • Area or address, drop-off and pickup times, and how to reach them if plans change.
  • Feeding habits, daily routine and any special care instructions have been stated.
  • How they will send updates is agreed in advance.
  • Fees and extra conditions are confirmed directly; do not assume the app processes payment.

Sources and notes

A VnExpress report on in-home pet sitting in Ho Chi Minh City describes sitters asking about food, hiding spots and the regular veterinary clinic before taking a job. Use those questions to check each person; do not assume every area already has listings.
